How to import anniversaries directly into iCal

Importing to iCal directly to iCal is comfortable and easy but may be slow for lots of anniversaries (if you run out of patience, try importing via iCalendar file).

BirthdayScanner X uses the official Apple iCal interface to "talk" directly to iCal. Unfortunately, this interface is everything but blindingly fast. But as long as you do not have more than some hundred anniversaries or so, it should be fine. (The exact number depends on the speed of your machine and your patience).

When importing into an existing calendar, BirthdayScanner X will automatically update old anniversaries and prevent duplicate events in iCal.

  1. Start up the BirthdayScanner X.
  2. Make all your adjustments: Define who to import, how the events should look like, etc...
  3. Click the Import to iCal button...
  4. Choose whether you want to create a new calendar or import the anniversaries into an existing calendar.

Note: If you choose the latter, existing anniversaries will be updated if needed. You will get no duplicates.

  5. Let the import run through.
This may take a while, if you have a lot of anniversaries (see also: Why is the import slow)
  6. Once done, the anniversaries are in iCal:
