Using ThumbFactory

Creating thumbs

The images to be thumbnailed are selected on the right of the product's interface and the thumbnailing options are selected on the left. When the desired options and images are selected then press the "Create" button to initiate thumbnail creation.

Selecting the images to be thumbnailed

The images can be selected in two ways. Either as a list of image names by selecting the "list" tab or as an arrangement of scrollable thumbnails by selecting the "images" tab.

The loading of all thumbnails may take time and this isn't recommended for viewing several hundred images. There is a preset limit of 300 images above which ThumbFactory won't allow scrollable thumbnails to appear. This maximum can be reset by going to the "settings" menu option. Using the standard list view of the images there should be no problem processing several thousand images.

Expanding images to full size

When an image file is selected either the "Expand" button can be pushed to show the full size image or instead the selection may be double clicked (this works if you looking at a list or the display of thumbs). After the full size image appears it can be made to disappear by clicking anywhere on the image.

The destination directory

The HTML and images created will be placed in the directory currently specified at the top right in the "Destination directory" box. When the product runs for the first time this defaults to a directory called "thumbs" but can be set to any directory required.

Multiple selections

Multiple selecttions of image files can be made either by (on Windows) holding down the "Ctrl" key while clicking selections or by using the "Select all" button. During thumbnailing a progress box will display. Overwriting of existing images with the same name is automatic.

Saving settings

The settings are always saved between sessions so their is no need to re-enter all the options. This includes any watermark image. H2Omarker makes a copy of the watermark image in it's own directory when the image is selected.

Resizing the GUI

You can resize the ThumbFactory window by dragging it however only changes in the height of the window are saved from session to session.
