Seafile Server for Raspberry Pi is the server part, the interactive daemon of the open source and cross-platform Seafile project, a cloud storage service that features next-generation file synchronization, privacy protection and remote collaboration.
The Raspberry Pi edition of Seafile Server is similar in functionality with the PC version, comprised the Seafile server (seaf-server) data service daemon, the FileServer (fileserver) components that provides download functionality for Seahuband and handles raw file upload, as well as the Ccnet server (ccnet-server) component, a networking service daemon.
What is Seafile?
Seafile is a personal cloud storage service and provides both client and server components. It allows users to synchronize their files with portable devices, discuss with team members around files, as well as to share files with friends, colleagues and family.
What is Seafile Server?
Like any other cloud storage system, Seafile comprises of client and server components. While the client is usually deployed on the user’s computer, allowing him/her to easily interact with the files stored in the cloud system, the server is the most important component, as it manages the core of the cloud storage system, making sure that everything runs smoothly and the user can interact with his/her files without interruption.
Supported operating systems
Seafile is a cross-platform software, which means that it has been designed from the groun up to work on all mainstream operating system, including Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X (both 32-bit and 64-bit hardware architectures are supported at this time). Besides Raspberry Pi, Seafile is also supported on the Android and iOS (iPad and iPhone) mobile operating systems.
